Accessible Sea Kayaking

Overview

A Wilder Experience believes that adventure is for every body. After several years of planning we are proud to announce the launch of our Accessible Sea Kayaking program (ASK). This program has been designed to reduce barriers to paddling a sea kayak for individuals with spinal cord or neuromuscular disabilities.

The ASK program is one step in our commitment to making the outdoors more accessible for those with mobility, or other physical challenges. With the assistance of a sea kayak guide, participants will paddle a tandem kayak that has been equipped with specialized equipment. This equipment includes a transfer bench for those who use a wheelchair, a specialized seat that is adjustable and provides support at four contact points on the torso and hips, and large buggy wheels, which are used to safely launch and land the sea kayak.

If you are interested in participating in this program, we'd love to hear from you.
