At A Wilder Experience (AWE) we offer guests unique adventure tourism-based excursions throughout Newfoundland and Labrador and the Canadian Arctic. We are passionate about pushing our comfort zone and exploring the vast natural beauty of this country. AWE specializes in individual, group and family excursions in a variety of disciplines from sea kayaking and packrafting to backcountry skiing. We are an inclusive organization and offer excursions for all adventurers, from novice to advanced. We also offer outdoor experiential education programs and corporate team building events. We strive to provide clients with an experience that is beyond their expectations. We recognize that our clients are our lifeblood and our most important stakeholder.

Diversity

While some of our programs do require certain levels of physical fitness or ability, we strive to offer an inclusive environment where anyone can participate, regardless of experience or ability. The backcountry can be an intimidating environment for those who have limited experience. Our programs are designed to enhance a client’s confidence and ability in the backcountry through experiential education. We also value families and actively invite parents to bring their children.

Environmental Stewardship

Our core values are something we practice in our personal and professional lives. They centre around respecting and protecting our natural spaces through Leave No Trace ethics and deliberate conservation efforts.

Collaboration

While the tourism sector can be a competitive environment, we value the skills and abilities of other operators in Newfoundland and Labrador and we welcome collaboration where feasible. We also seek to build relationships with other organizations that promote conservation and education pertaining to the natural environment.

Safe and Responsible Practices

While our experiences are geared to a variety of skill levels, we have certain absolutes to mitigate the inherent risks in water-based activities. We require the use of personal protective equipment at all times when on or within 15 feet of the water’s edge. This includes but may not be limited to personal floatation devices (PFDs)/life jackets and helmets (river environments). We also prohibit the consumption of alcohol on any of our experiences. By ensuring we are compliant with industry standard safety practices, we demonstrate a commitment to our clients to provide a safe and enjoyable experience.
