René Ritter
Founder and Lead Wilderness Guide
René Ritter is the founder and lead guide of A Wilder Experience, with extensive experience in outdoor experiential education, wilderness medicine, and polar guiding. Raised in St. John’s, NL, he spent 11 years living on Baffin Island where he developed his Arctic guiding expertise. René is a certified whitewater and backpacking guide, Wilderness First Responder Instructor, and Swiftwater Rescue Instructor. He has led major ski expeditions, including crossing the Greenland Icecap, and currently guides the Akshayuk Pass traverse. His solo Northwest Passage Expedition was endorsed by the Royal Canadian Geographic Society in 2019.
Adam Loran
Senior Wilderness Guide
Adam is the expedition lead for our Arctic trekking programs, including the
Akshayuk Pass and sea kayaking in Newfoundland. Adam is a graduate of the
Adventure Tourism program and Thomson Rivers University in British Columbia.
He has worked with A Wilder Experience since 2021 and is a valuable member of
our team. Adam displays strong decision-making in remote terrain and leads with
a calm presence that instills confidence while encouraging others to push their
boundaries. Passionate about photography and art, he draws inspiration from
Canada’s vast landscapes, both on and off expedition.
